Plant A Row for the Hungry, or PAR, is a people-helping-people program feeding the homeless and hungry in their own communities. Launched in 1995, this innovative public service campaign was developed by the Garden Writers of America Association (GWAA) to encourage gardeners to grow a little extra and donate the produce to local soup kitchens and food banks that serve the homeless and hungry.
The nation's soup kitchens and food banks are facing a crisis. The restructuring of government support and increased efficiency in the food industry (leaving less surplus food to donate) has seriously impacted the capability of food banks to serve the hungry in our communities. PAR's mission is to provide an avenue through which the 70 million gardeners in this country can help the 35 million men, women and children who go to bed hungry every day. |

Homestead will be working with Euro and its plant licensing company Amerinova Properties to customize programs for growers and garden centers. The program will initially serve the Mid-Atlantic region. For the initial rollout, Amerinova has licensed Homestead Growers to propagate and distribute the John Greenlee Grass Collection and Savvy Succulents, both exclusive lines of genetics.
